Sun-day Fun-day! At the Fourways Farmers Market.

Sun-day Fun-day!

I went to the Fourways Farmer's Market last week Sunday, with a few of my girl friends. This was the perfect day to catch up with the ladies, over good food, drinks and great conversation.
This Johannesburg based market has a variety of stalls, some selling clothing, accessories, but most importantly, glorious glorious FOOD.

First things first- Get a drink :)
Got a Grapefruit Mint Julep cocktail and a Strawberry Mojito, just as the doctor ordered.

For mains, we tried an assortment of meals, which included but not limited to;

Deep-fried chicken strips | skinny fries|  slaw with a side salad | parmesan cheese shavings | sweet chilli sauce.

And then there was the Mexican Chicken Burrrito! Totally LOVED this! It does not get any better than that. This was my favourite item for the day. This had fresh ingredients, and a bit of fresh chillies for that kick.

Chorizo | Mince | Pasta and loads of cheese.

Pulled pork and bacon burger | fries

And some more cheesy goodness :)

 And then we dug in...

While walking through the market, lawd and behold, I stumbled on a dessert that I have only had the pleasure of seeing on TV. More specifically, on an Italian baking show. CANNOLIS. I did not know exactly what a cannoli is, all I knew is that I HAD TO TRY IT!!!
FYI **A cannoli is a dessert consisting of small deep-fried pastry tubes with a creamy filling, typically of sweetened ricotta cheese**
I tried the choc chip cannoli. The pastry was beautifully soft. The ricotta cheese stuffing was not what I expected. It was very fluffy and not sweet at all.
