My Ultimate Roadtrip #TheoTurns30

When I turned 30 on the 30th of November I decided that the best gift to myself, would be a road trip around South Africa. Well, as much as I could possibly do. The brief was to travel to a place we have never been before, with the exception of Cape town ** I thought that I would actually climb table mountain on the 30th November ** LOL AND to take group selfies to mark the different locations.

I planned this trip with a some of the most important individuals in my life. Mainly my sister and boyfriend and 2 friends.  5 of us in total.

The route would begin in Soweto >>> Kimberley (Northern Cape)  >>> Augrabies (Northern Cape) >>> Saldanha Bay (Western Cape) >>> Cape town (Western Cape) >>> Port Elizabeth (Eastern Cape) >>> Soweto (Home).

On the morning the 27th November, what would be one of the best trips of my life, began.

Location: Soweto, GP

First stop, Kimberley.  The big hole in Kimberley, Northern Cape.

**The BIG Hole is an open-pit and underground mine in Kimberley, South Africa**

Location: Kimberley, Northern Cape.

Location of pic: Somewhere in between.

In Kakamas, NC is where we spent our first night. The accommodation was surrounded by vast palm and citrus trees, with a noticeable contrast between the lush plantations and the arid surroundings.
The evening was spent over a braai, drinks, recouping from the long drive and planning what would be an even better tomorrow.

On the morning of the 28th, by 8am, our journey began. Next stop, Augrabies Falls National Park .

** Augrabies falls National Park is a national park located around the Augrabies Falls, about 120kms west of Upington, in the Northern Cape Province. *

This national park was one of our "must see" locations on this trip, no compromise. The waterfall is about 60 meter high and normally gushing with water. Although a quick stop, Augrabies Falls is a definite must see when in the Northern Cape.

Next stop- Saldanah Bay . Whoop Whoop.

Saldanah bay. What a beaut!!!!!

** Saldanah Bay is located within the West Coast District, in the Western Cape. **

This beautiful town that welcomed us with such a warm reception , is perfect for holidays,  fishing and numerous water activities.
Saldanah Bay is where we would spend the next few days, enjoying the town, and mostly the fresh  sea food.

Next stop- eKapa Lodumo, Cape Town,  The Mother City

Location of Pic: Somewhere in between

Cape Town, one of my favourite local destinations, and the place where I would be celebrating my birthday.
The idea was to climb Table Mountain on the morning of the 30th November, when I turned 30. Looking back, this was quite an ambitious idea from our side. Needless to say, WE DID NOT EVEN COME CLOSE to waking up early that morning.

**Table Mountain is one of the new 7 wonders of nature. It is a flat-topped mountain forming a prominent landmark over looking the city of Cape Town.**
